WHICH IS GOOD FOR SEO? WHITE HAT OR BLACK HAT

December 22nd, 2009 admin No comments

The straight answer for this question is – White hat techniques.  The processes which are acceptable to the search engines and which are considered to be legitimate.  However, the effects of white hat techniques take time to achieve the results, but it is longstanding and are search engine friendly.  Whereas, black hat techniques involves unethical methods to push a website to the first page listing.  The time period involved in black hat techniques is short.  However, if the search engines come to know that black hat technique had been used by a website, then that website would be banned either temporarily or permanently.

It is like two paths in our life to choose from, one is good and one is bad. The “good” path is strenuous, hard, and takes considerable time for us to reach the top. The fruits of good path are time tested and the effects last long with peace of mind.  We always get appreciation and rewards for good work!!! In contrast, the path of bad is following shortcuts and unethical methods, the effects of which do not withstand time. There will be always fear in our hearts and minds as to when we would get busted. This concept of good and bad is universal and applies to search engine optimization too.

Ethical and accepted methods of SEO fall under the category of white hat techniques. Unethical and disapproved methods fall under the category of black hat techniques. Even though it takes time to get to the top position through white hat techniques, the effects would last long and there would not be any fear of getting the website banned. However, it takes less time to get to the top position from black hat techniques. However, the effects of black hat techniques does not last long, the search engines may consider it spamdexing and may ban the website temporarily or permanently. A website which uses black hat techniques may lose it’s credibility in the internet, as well as with its customers.

Thus, before you entrust your SEO to any company, make sure they follow white hat techniques.

Some of the white hat techniques are as follows,
1. On-Page content.
2. Keyword Research.
3. Link Building.
4. Submit website URL to directories.
5. Commenting in Blogs (should be genuine)
6. Press Release writings.
7. Site map generation.

Some of the black hat techniques are as follows,
1. Manipulating keywords – stuffing keywords.
2. Link farming.
3. Articles without original content.
4. Spamming – giving false comments on other’s blogs.
5. Redirecting to unwanted URL.

Follow the right path, reach the top, and enjoy the fruits of good work.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SEO COMPANY

December 18th, 2009 admin No comments

Have you ever wandered in the wilderness in search of a good SEO company?  If so, then you would have definitely come across 100s of SEO companies claiming that they are the deliverers.  However, in real scenario that wouldn’t be the case, many would be amateurs and would cost you worthless spending and more than that would have wasted your precious time.  There are many good SEO companies out there, but consider yourself fortunate if you had found one that has the ability to deliver without knowing what is search engine optimization.  If you just go by words, then finding a good SEO company is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Thus, before choosing and settling up for a SEO company, make sure that you ask the right questions, and make some basic background check.  Ask them the questions such as,
1. How many clients have you handled?
2. List out the keywords that you have brought to the first page of Google and Yahoo.
3. Which type of techniques do you follow?
4. What are the processes that you follow for search engine optimization?

Also, ask them the template or a sample weekly and monthly SEO reports.  The sample reports will give you an insight as to what are the processes that are followed, whether all the promised aspects are being brought into the report or not. If there is a mismatch between the promises and the report then you know what to do, look elsewhere.

Always make sure that the SEO company that you are going to hire follows only white hat techniques and not black hat techniques.  The reason for this is that the search engines approve only white hat techniques and disapproves black or gray hat techniques.  In fact, the search engines could ban the website if it comes to know that black hat technique is used.

A good SEO firm will be a genius in the below points,
1. Keyword Analysis.
2. Keyword Strengthening.
3. Competition Analysis.
4. Google Analytics Setup.
5. Site Map Generator.
6. On-Page Optimization.
7. Search Engine Submission.
8. Manual Directory Submission.
9. Social Bookmarking Submission.
10. Articles, Blogs, and Press Release Submission.
11. Creation of Blogs, Articles, and Press Release content.

13. Keyword Ranking Report.
14. Link Exchange Setup.
